Movement & manual therapy

General exercise therapyActive and passive treatment for orthopaedic, neurological, paediatric and internal-medicine conditions.

Orthopaedic, neurological, paediatric and internal-medicine follow-up treatment in the sense of physical therapy — for example through active movement exercises, passive mobilisation, traction, specific stretching and breathing exercises. Where appropriate, general exercise therapy also includes massage and specific techniques such as Cyriax, PNF and Brügger.

Manual therapyGentle joint mobilisation for painful and restricted joints, spine and pelvis.

Gentle joint mobilisation for all restricted and painful joints, including the spine and pelvis. An extremely gentle yet effective method — particularly for osteoarthritis, degenerative spinal conditions, after fractures and joint blockages, and for chronic pain.

Lymphatic drainage (CDT)Gentle rhythmic treatment of oedema, often after surgery, fractures or with venous conditions.

Treatment of oedema (swelling) of widely varying causes, using gentle rhythmic massage together with movement exercises and, where needed, compression bandaging. A frequent therapy after tumour surgery, bone fractures, and with venous conditions of the legs.

Classical massageTreatment of painfully tense muscles using specific hand techniques.

Depending on the indication, treatment of painfully tense musculature using specific hand techniques.

Trigger point treatmentPressure massage and stretching to reduce muscle tension. Delivered within general exercise therapy.

A specific physiotherapeutic technique in which pressure massage and stretching reduce muscular tension and so achieve a reduction in pain. Trigger point treatment is applied within general exercise therapy.

Sling table therapyTreatment with the body's own weight taken off, by suspension in slings.

Treatment of painful and/or movement-restricted sections of the spine or joints, with the body's own weight taken off by suspension in slings.

Neurology & specialist care

Bobath for adultsA specific approach for neurological conditions such as after a stroke, or with MS or Parkinson's.

A specific treatment method for neurological conditions such as the state following a stroke, MS or Parkinson's. The aim is to relearn controlled movement and to optimise motor ability. Guided by the therapist, patients work on postural and movement patterns that normalise muscle tone and so make moving easier.

Manual therapy for the jaw joint (TMJ)For persistent head, neck and shoulder pain involving the jaw joint.

Persistent head, neck and shoulder pain often originates in an unrecognised jaw-joint dysfunction with associated muscular involvement. A combined dental and manual-therapy approach frequently eases the symptoms. This treatment is billed as manual therapy and is paid for by every statutory health insurer. Do raise your symptoms and a possible course of therapy with your dentist or orthodontist.

Mobilisation of neural structuresBrings the role of nerve structures in pain into the manual therapy approach.

Pain and restricted movement caused by shortened and adherent muscle and connective tissue are widely understood by now. The involvement of neural structures in the pain process, however, is often overlooked. Within manual therapy we include this avenue of pain treatment in your therapy too.

Respiratory therapyFor people with respiratory conditions — better oxygen supply, easier clearing of secretions.

A specific form of exercise therapy aimed at patients with respiratory conditions. Through targeted positioning, stretching and breathing techniques you learn to improve your oxygen supply and to stimulate the clearing of secretions.

Physical therapy

Physical therapy: ultrasound, fango, infrared, electrotherapyUsed as an adjunct depending on the condition — from improving circulation to nerve stimulation.

Applied according to the clinical picture and symptoms, to improve circulation, stimulate metabolism, loosen muscles, train muscles, reduce pain or stimulate nerves.

Hivamat treatmentDeep oscillation, in the sense of electrotherapy.
